Nearby Sightseeing Spots

Murasaki Shikibu Park

This park was created in honor of Murasaki Shikibu, the author of The Tale of Genji(Genji monogatari), who spent a year and a half in Takefu when her father, Tametoki Fujiwara, was transferred to her post.It is the only Shinden-zukuri garden in Japan that imitates the residences of aristocrats in the Heian period. Ponds and Tsukiyama (artificial mountains) are set against the Mt Hino.At the adjacent Fujinami-tei, you can try on a junihitoe (reservation required). You can take a stroll in the elegant atmosphere of the vermillion-lacquered bridge and the golden Murasaki Shikibu statue in harmony.

Soja Grand Shrine

Emperor Shomu Imperial Festival Shrine This is a shrine that enshrines the spirits of the provincial priest festival enshrined in Echizen Province.Known as the main shrine in Echizen Province, it is popularly known as “Osonja-san”. Many festivals such as “Ohaigo-san” in the spring, “Chinowa Kuguri” in the summer, and the ”Soja Festival” in the fall are held here. Worshipers visit. With a large torii gate and a spacious precinct, you can feel the stateliness of a Kokufu shrine.

Echizen Pottery Village/Fukui Prefectural Ceramics Museum

The pottery village is centered on the vast Echizen pottery park, which has been selected as one of the 100 city parks.Fukui Prefectural Ceramic Museum where you can see, make and use Echizen ware, "Echizen Ware House" and "Kinoue no Tori" where you can buy Echizen ware, restaurants and accommodation facilities. Hoenji Temple

This temple was protected by Toshiie Maeda, the first feudal lord of the Kaga domain. There is a memorial tower for Toshiie's parents in the cemetery.The connection between Toshiie and Takefu began when Nobunaga ODA, who suppressed the Ikko Ikki forces in the Hokuriku region, ordered the region centered on Takefu to be ruled by the Fuchu trinity of Toshiie Maeda, Narimasa Sasa, and Mitsuharu Fuwa. built a temple with the same name in Kanazawa after receiving Kaga Domain. Hoenji Temple is known for the Enmei Jizo statue that stops toothache. In addition, there is a vast garden of Shichifukujin Meguri.
